The WOD Box: February 2016 Review

My February WOD Box has arrived!

I first saw The WOD Box on Instagram and since I am addicted to subscription boxes I knew that I had to try it. It’s a subscription box that includes Crossfit related snacks, supplements and gear for around $20 per month. You can usually find discount codes on their Instagram page. This is my second month receiving the WOD Box and since I got some really cool stuff (like a t-shirt and a Mighty Muffin) I was really excited for this month’s box!

Let’s See what’s inside:

February 2016 WOD Box

1 – SKLZ Accupoint Spine and Tissue Massager

1 – Fuel For Fire Fruit & Protein Fuel Pack – Sweet Potato Apple flavor

2 – Quest Protein Powder packs – Chocolate Milkshake flavor

1 – powbab Superfruit Chews – Pomegranate Acai berry flavor

1 – Coromega Omega-3 Orange Squeeze packets

SKLZ Accupoint ergonomic tissue and muscle massager
SKLZ Accupoint Ergonomic Spine and Tissue Massager ($14.99)

I was super excited to see this in the box because #1 I was amazed they fit the package into the box itself and #2 I’ve been meaning to purchase a lacrosse ball to help work out knots in my back and shoulders. After a long WOD of overhead squats or any sort presses my shoulder muscles can get really tight and rolling out the muscles can be so relaxing (although sometimes painful). I was introduced to using a lacrosse ball for mobility through my Crossfit gym and the SKLZ massager seems like it will work perfectly.

Update: I used this after one of my rugby games on my back and it works miracles!!! My back was super sore and tense from getting beat up in the game (and from flying back and forth to Las Vegas in one day, but that’s another story) so I rolled around on the ball thing and it seriously saved my back. It’s not as hard as a lacrosse ball but it is still firm enough to work on those sore muscles.

Fuel for Fire fruit and protein pack. Sweet potato apple flavor

I’d tried the Tropical flavor of Fuel for Fire and I really liked it and the Sweet Potato Apple flavor is just as good. I prefer eating these refrigerated because it makes the texture a little thicker. My boss walked in on me eating one of these and thought I was eating baby food but baby food doesn’t have 10g of protein per serving. I like keeping these stocked in my fridge at work in case I get hangry or rush in and forget to eat breakfast.

Quest protein powder chocolate milkshake flavor
Quest Protein Powder ($2.49)

I’ve tried Quest bars before but I have not yet tried their protein powder. Each packet contains one serving with 110 calories and 23g of protein. Just like many of their bars, Quest protein powder is relatively low in sugar with less than 1g per serving which is a plus. I will be testing these out in my post-workout shake!

powbab superfood immunity superfruit chews

powbab Superfruit Chews (~$1.99)

Baobab is a superfruit from Africa that is supposed to be full of antioxidants and powbab has created an easy to eat chew out of them. I have tried other chewable vitamins in the past and sometimes they have a weird aftertaste. I was pleasantly surprised to find that these had no aftertaste at all and just tasted like fruits. The pack I got in this package had 3 chews in it.

Coromega Omega 3 supplement packets

coromega Omega-3 7-Day Sample Pack ($4.99)

I hadn’t really taken any sort of fish oil supplements until I started Crossfit but this method of taking fish oil seems pretty cool! I am not big on swallowing pills and these squeeze packs are pretty convenient. The orange squeeze flavor tastes almost like an orange dreamsicle and didn’t have a fishy flavor or aftertaste.

Overall, by my rough calculations, I got about $30 worth of products for less than $20 this month! I definitely think that the WOD Box is worth the price and it is always fun getting new products in the mail to try. Can’t wait for next month’s box!
